Finding the Best Treatment for Post Menopausal Hormones

Written by admin on Sunday, August 8th, 2010 in Womens hormone.

Women’s hormones are complex things, as they fluctuate depending on the day and time and also they vary according to the woman. There are not any accurate tests that can be done at this time to show what is lacking in the woman, and the best way to choose a hormone replacement therapy is to examine what the symptoms are and whether they are harsh enough to require a treatment program in that particular woman. There are many serious side effects in the replacement therapies, so women that can get by with mild discomfort with the menopausal symptoms are wise to do it without treatment. However, if the symptoms are severe and debilitating, then the women should work with their doctors to find a treatment that will work for them with the least amount of side effects.

Post Menopausal Hormones Expectation

For some women, there is a need for post menopausal hormones since they continue to experience discomfort in their lives due to lack of certain hormones in their bodies. Post menopausal hormones can be given, but the risks are increased as time goes on in these women. For instance, there is the risk of dementia in those women who are over the age of sixty-five years of age. Also, studies show that the risks increase the longer the women are on the post menopausal hormone replacement.

There are some serious effects of post menopausal hormone replacement. There is the increased risk of strokes and heart attacks in these women who are taking the replacement therapies. There is also the increased risk of breast cancer in these women, even though the risk of colon cancer seems to be reduced in these women. There is also an increased level of triglycerides that are found in women who have post menopausal hormone treatments, which are the ‘bad’ fats that are in the blood.

There are also some post menopausal hormones that can be used to help with brittle bones that women are experiencing. Some women like to try and get their replacement through natural means, like through the use of supplements that use soy or yams to get the hormones that they need. However, these supplements are not monitored by the Food and Drug Administration, and are therefore untested, so women really do not know what the long term effects of taking these supplements are for their bodies. The best thing that women can do is to talk to their doctors about the benefits and risks of these drugs and the forms that they come in so that they can make an informed decision.
