Female hot flashes can be a very difficult thing to deal with. They most commonly occur in women during menopause, and can be mild to severe. Female hot flashes are mostly caused by the hormone menopause changes, but can also be affected by lifestyle and medications.

The majority of women who go through menopause experience female hot flashes at one time or another in their lives, and even if they are severe, at least you know that there are things you can do about it.

Treatment is important for dealing with these female hot flashes, but the first step is going to be for you to avoid the triggers that are aggravating your hot flashes or possibly even causing them to begin with.

Avoiding Triggers

If you can identify the things in your life that are triggering your hot flashes, then you have really made the first step and have the upper hand. Now at least you can try to avoid these triggers as best as you can and significantly decrease the suffering you experience from your hot flashes.

You should also keep a record of when the hot flashes occur and what you were eating, how you were feeling, and so on, and this way you will be able to get back to feeling like your regular self once again.

Treatments

There are also quite a few different treatments that are available for female hot flashes. Taking a cool shower before bed is one great idea in particular, so that your body is at as cool a temperature as possible for the evening. You should also use cotton sheets only and wear cotton pajamas or nightgown.

Relaxation and stress reduction will also be important here, and you may find that one of the following techniques will help you to minimize the devastating effects of stress on the body: relaxation exercises, breathing exercises, meditation, visualization, massage, hypnosis, yoga, and biofeedback techniques, just to give you an idea.

Changing your diet may have a major impact on the way that you feel and even prevent hot flashes from starting. Losing excess weight will help, but losing too much weight, or being too thin, can worsen symptoms. Herbal remedies and soy preparations may work because of their plant estrogens, but you cannot assume that just because an estrogen comes from a plant that it is going to be a completely safe remedy.

You can deal with hot flashes as long as you go about it in the right way and take care of your health in general.
